I had a wonderful stay at the Governor's House this past winter. Suzanne was extremely hospitable - there were always fresh cookies and fruit, games to be played or movies to be watched. She was helpful with recommendations for where to ski or eat in the area and had lovely little stories to share. I am very interested in attending one of the Jane Austen Weekends. I chose to stay at B&B's because of the interaction with the host/ess. I enjoyed the beauty of the Governor's House and the wonderful breakfasts and intend to return again soon.

My (then) fiance and I were looking for a wonderful, low stress elopement. Our families are scattered so we decided we wanted a small ceremony, just he and I, and a reception later. We didn't want to go to the state house so we found The Governor's House. Honestly it was the BEST wedding, perfect for us. Suzanne was very helpful every step of the way. The B&B itself is beautiful and cozy. Suzanne arranged for the JP and recommended a photographer and hairdresser, both who were wonderful. She really went the extra mile to make our wedding special! If you are looking for a small or exclusive wedding this is really a wonderful option. We would do it again in a heartbeat! (Bonus: you have a reason to go back each year!)

Suzanne, the lovely proprietor of the Governor's House, warned me she detests "review websites." I spared her that I was a Yelp Elite. I can't say enough about the three nights I spent at old Governor Page's beautiful house, thrice renovated since it was established in the mid 1800s. My boyfriend and I shared the Pineapple Room in the back of the house. Small and cozy, we had a four poster bed dressed in warm blankets and a bedside table complete with a decanter of sherry. Suzanne brought us hot apple cider straight to our rooms upon our arrival. The breakfast is phenomenal. Have you ever had a maple egg or monte cristo french toast? Oh, just wait. Our hosts suggestive proportioning kept us from over eating but I really wanted one more maple egg.. Suzanne is also 100% green friendly. She will recycle every last thing in your trashcan, offer you a Victorian napkin ring to mark your reusable linens and suddenly, the two day old towels begin to feel like home. I loved her assortment of treasures in the "world's smallest gift shop" but better yet, the movie collection was a treat. We had fun picking from its library of vhs (!) and dvd's. The Governor's House has a warmth like no other and situated in one of the most beautiful corners of America, there's no doubt you will be instantly at peace. If only Suzanne could see her consistent 5 star rating!

My husband and I stayed at the Governor's house for a couple nights over this past winter. It surpassed my expectations in almost every way. We stayed in the beautifully appointed Pink Room, which I believe is by far the best guest room in the house! I imagined myself summering there, just so I could lounge around in that comfortable room. It was so cozy, I really didn't want to leave. The fireplace was wonderful, but it would have been even better if it had been wood burning instead of gas. I guess insurance and safety issues trump ambiance. Also, I really enjoyed the claw-foot tub, and soon adapted to seated bathing. However, it seemed that there was a bit of a shortage of hot water after filling the tub, which was odd as there were hardly any other guests at the time. I think an increased capacity hot water heater may be needed. Also, I enjoyed the breakfasts prepared by Suzanne (especially as she served them with such panache) but I wasn't really impressed by the food. Granted, I am quite a food snob, but it just seemed like the focus was on economy rather than taste. I'm sad to say the selections were a little disappointing, which was really a shame because the rest of our experience there was just lovely. Suzanne is an attentive and thoughtful hostess, who has done an incredible job of restoring this historic building. The Governor's House is simply gorgeous inside and out-truly a postcard worthy scene of Vermont. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic weekend getaway!

My girlfriend and I just a had a wonderful stay at the Governor's House. The house has been painstakingly renovated by the innkeeper and it shows in every detail. The house is conveniently located near upstate Vermont ski resorts. The innkeeper is very helpful with suggested activities and is a wonderful host and chef. She has assembled an amazing collection of movies, books and boardgames that could keep you entertained for days! We will definitely stay here again soon!
